If you need an “outer” motivation (that which is not within yourself) like a biweekly paycheck, an admiration from people you do not know or care about, you are not really living. Your mind and body are both probably stressed out beyond measure. Quit that “job” and trust yourself and God and the Universe. You will land on your own two feet. Grinding away at your 9 to 5 job which you detest only ages you faster and makes you unhealthy.
As we discussed, what about your free time to eat healthy and exercise healthy? The traditional 9 to 5 job, especially if you must “perform on demand” and “follow company guidelines”, only makes you unable to take care of your body and eat healthy. That is a central need that most Americans know they need but ignore. After finding the proper clothes to wear, putting on that makeup, fighting traffic, then fighting with your boss and coworkers, then fighting traffic on the way back…that leaves you no time to cook and eat healthy for yourself, or work out your body in any proper way.
Nothing is worth your inner bliss, happiness, and good health. Nothing… Traditional “jobs” make you so serious, blunt your inner child and your curiosity. Your job is so repetitive, it has to be so that you perform on demand and “blend in”. And all your frustrations and all your disappointments, they scar you forever. You may even learn to have contempt for this life, contempt for the ones you love that you blame for reasons you cannot remember.
Realizing this as early on as possible in your career will be central to your success. Calm yourself, take a hour every day to come up with ideas that you can turn into profit centers, really examine your interests and what motivates you. Let your imagination and creativity in these periods shape the rest of your day. Tune into trends and then test your ideas by reading about what others are doing in the area you are studying.
Do you love ancient Roman history? Do you read about that subject in your spare time? How about teaching a class at your local community college on that subject? Can you speak two languages? Teach a class, offer it by advertising it anywhere like Craigslist. Most people go through the day on autopilot, and thus their inner creativity can never sparkle.
