Even though Society tells us that we have to run off and get a job, think about what a job does to you. It, after the first couple of weeks, makes it possible only to perfect a very limited set of skills specific to your company and your specific job. That in itself is very limiting. More than likely, you will be turned into a domesticated animal, following the orders of a master. Before I get a another job, a “job” type job, I would rather sleep on a park bench or live under a bridge.
Living in constant fear that you will lose your job, and being subject to the constant “job performance reviews” and being rushed to create “profit” for your company who cares nothing about you, is the riskiest choice you can make.
If you can establish multiple income sources, you will be able to live your days freer from anxiety and fear, and you will have much needed free time to explore your creative talents. To work out a plan for being “joyfully jobless” will take some time and effort, but at least you will ultimately be happier, and your destiny will be determined by you yourself alone. The process will not be instantaneous, but at least you can begin the process.
Being “jobless” will really allow you to serve your fellow mankind and the world will become a better place as you will be able to add your “personal touch” to all the work that you come up with, that the larger corporations cannot do as easily.
I believe in the near future everyone will be experimenting with this strategy, and the adventure involved will be its own motivation. Getting a “job” is like putting all your eggs in one basket, you are destined to become exhausted and never sing the song that you were meant to sing.
If you stay at a “job”, there are so many things you learn to do that involve such a limited set of skills. With all the outsourcing going on, think about if your “job” will even be around in 10 years. There are scores of people that can wake up, set their own hours, and be their own “boss”. Even though that seems risky, it is much riskier than having just one income source and one boss that may terminate you at their own whim.
