Modern people’s obsession with longevity and maintaining sexual vigor and attractiveness to the latest age possible pose yet more suffering unknown to the primitive man. You never see an Amish man or woman doing plastic surgery or wearing makeup to appear younger. You never even see them coloring their hair. To them and to others such as them, they are comfortable and accept the nature of things. To be older is just that, to get older. There is no nonsense of keeping yourself looking like an 18 year old.
Aging is natural, and need not be considered “ugly”. Things age. It is unnatural and frustrating and ultimately fruitless to fight against nature. It would be like during autumn climbing a ladder and spray painting the beautiful brown, red, and yellow leaves back to green as they were in the springtime. There is NOTHING intrinsically “ugly” about an older person. Certainly they look different, but their attractiveness just has everything to do with what Society deems to be attractive, nothing more.
In addition, other maladies present itself such as the inability of modern man to really use his body for physical exercise. The primitive man naturally walks and runs many miles a day and utilizes his body. But the modern man usually sits behind a cubicle and his main exercise seems to be to walk from his car to his job every day.
As long as the system gives a man the opportunities for autonomy, he is free. But today he finds himself on a leash and in chains whenever and wherever he goes. Modern man lives in confinement and never gives them opportunities for natural growth. I am reminded of an Alfred Lord Tennyson quote that summed up the predicament: “If we could read the secret diaries of our enemies, then they would be so easy to forgive.” In modern life nothing fixes by itself because modern man has interfered with nature. In nature, everything occurs according to its plan, and according to its natural time period. Life would be so much better for the modern man if it proceeded backwards, starting off at old age and growing younger and finally dying at 18 years of age, because that is what Society places all of its value in.
