So society leaves you as a perfect parrot. But you must try to become a wolf in order that you may evolve. In order to do this, you must engage in a complete flip flop of sorts. You will be conflicted because the parrot inside you keeps on insisting that you obey obey obey, while the growing wolf inside you keeps on becoming resistant and angry towards the parrot inside of you. It wants to eat the parrot and seek vengence . But if you are patient, soon the parrot will become the eagle or wolf…independent of the thoughts of others.
The “wolf” inside you can further evolve. The wolf may then become the owl. The owl being wise and just sitting, observing watching. The sense of the owl is born. Suddenly, the “I” in yourself is dropped. There is no more “mind”. There is no more “life story”. You then really start to live. You stop obsessing over the pains of the past and the fears of the future. You stop making decisions in the moment based on the past, and you stop making decisions always thinking about the future…and fixed in the past. Soon, all your judgment disappears and the you will shift into a higher gear.
So, just observe yourself quietly meditating and praying. When you do this, “judgment disappears” (i.e. your desire to judge others fades away). When you judge, there is only logic, and you cannot love inside your logic or when you judge. When you try to judge a person, that person dies. He or she is as dead as a rock. Also, when you judge, your mind is stuck on a low “gear” as in a car moving in second gear. It revs higher and higher, and the engine gets all hot stuck in the low gear, and it expends so much energy, but the car cannot pick up speed. The car’s engine suffers and rots. You need to be able to shift gears. Remember that your unaware mind is always stuck in the past or future, and cannot think in the present tense. When you are in the present, really in the present, the mind disappears because the mind means thinking.
Try to recall when you were a child. Were you ever really thinking like you are now? Of course not. Society has given you all these bad habits of thought. You were living in the moment, and your past was not even yet created to make chaos and take away from your present moments. You did not fear the future because you were so engaged in the present tense. Now, as a grown person in society, think about your present thoughts. You mind is either moving in the present or moving in the future all the time. It is never or rarely in the “now”. The moments where it is in the now is when your sense of time completely disappears, you are then living “mindfully”. You may catch yourself in these moments when you are doing something you really love, or with someone you really love.
If you live in the moment, you will notice that there are great quantities of space there, ready for your soul to move around in. The movement into the past or future involves very little space. There is the constant congestion of negative thoughts on envy and pride, and how to get ahead, or regrets of remembering how someone wronged you.
