There is someting seriously wrong in society and in people that think the “grass is greener” on the other side. The other person’s dinner he or she ordered must be so much better than the one you ordered, right? Everyone is so afraid they are going to miss something. So that is why the news is now 24/7 on like 50 cable channels! Americans say, “I don’t wanna miss nuthin’!” Their time on the Internet is endless, surfing through endless blogs for junk to buy and random news about celebrities to fill their brains.
It is an addiction really that they are trying to satisfy. And like all addictions, you can never get enough. America IS an addiction. Everything about America screams addiction. The disease of “I need more” is so rampant, and everyone is takng another hit off the American crackpipe of “I want more”. Nothing will satisfy you if you engage in what America and really all that the Western Civilization strives for.
Nothing you do will help you. You may live in a penthouse condo in Lower Manhattan but you will be just as miserable as you were in dinky motel room for homeless people in New Jersey. Wherever you go, there you are… If you were a miserable man living in a dinky small motel room, then if you suddenly get a lot of money you will still be a miserable man living in a rich penthouse condo in Lower Manhattan. At least, in the tiny little dinky motel room you had an excuse as to why you were miserable, right? At least if you keep plugging away you may someday live in that penthouse condo. That hope keeps people rowing upstream and keeps them full of excuses and justifications to keep trying.
You are someday going to keep saying to yourself, “I’m going to try, try, try, try, try, try…” and they suddenly, in a moment of clarity, say “I’m going to stop trying.” Then you will find, that if you are of a pure heart, and are sincere, then you will suddenly find a calm descend over you. In order to find this enlightened moment, you have to drop what you were seeking. But here is another paradox, you have to have gone through the chase in order to stop chasing! So to get that calmness and serenity, you have HAD to struggle in the first place!
When you struggle over and over again and become so frustrated and upset, and then decide to drop your efforts… the more you had struggled, the greater your release will be. If you struggled to the point to suicide, or of complete despair, then you will experience complete bliss and find truth when you finally stop running. You will transcend all that you sought to overcome.
